Being a Safety Specialist for Bacardi, Corporation Puerto Rico is:
Essential Functions:
- Support a proactive, preventive safety culture by modeling safe behaviors and reinforcing expectations across site teams.
- Assess potential risks related to the safety, health and property of the company following the processes and procedures established by local and federal regulatory agencies, in addition to the company's global standards.
- Develop and implement programs and procedures to comply with applicable regulations related to Occupational Health, Safety and Security.
- Lead and maintain compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) Programs.
- Conduct or assist with risk assessments, job hazard analyses, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Changes (MOC) and workplace inspections to proactively identify and address hazards.
- Measure the effectiveness of activities related to safety through inspections and audits.
- Oversee Occupational Health, Safety and Security training program.
- Supervise, develops, implements and monitors the work plan and strategies for the area and personnel under his/her charge, ensuring that it meets the company's objectives and promotes the continuous development of the department.
- Maintain safety and health KPIs and analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
- Monitor the departmental budget, together with the personnel of the department, ensuring that it is in tune with the company's objectives.
- Prepare monthly and annual statistical, financial and operational reports and present them in the corresponding forums.
- Support incident investigations related to accidents, safety incidents and occupational health, by gathering facts, contributing to root cause analysis, and tracking corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist with Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses documentation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Support emergency preparedness, response, and evacuation planning activities.
- Provides technical expertise and solutions in the areas of injury & illness prevention, physical hazard assessment, safety chemical management and risk management plans (RMP), if applies.
- Assist in maintaining the site’s EHS Management System by participating and conducting internal audits, updating SOPs, tracking corrective actions, to ensure compliance with ISO 45001 standards, when applicable.
- Monitors safety performance of external contractors and establishes control requirements in case of deficiencies detected.
Hospitality and Tourist Safety Responsibilities
- Collaborate with hospitality teams to ensure all visitor areas meet the highest safety and cleanliness standards, including routine inspections of public spaces and tour routes.
- Establish and maintain emergency response protocols and evacuation procedures specific to tourist groups, ensuring clear signage and staff training.
- Monitor crowd control and visitor movement during peak times and special events to prevent accidents or overcrowding.
- Evaluate accessibility and safe accommodation for visitors with disabilities or special needs.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to public and tourist safety.
General and Administrative Support
- Acts as the area main contact for external audits/inspections and state/federal agencies.
- Assist with plant security oversight and serve as a back-up resource for emergency management or contractor supervision as needed.
- Generate purchase orders and service contracts for your work area and report any variation in the budget.
- Travel and work flexible hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support company goals and ensure site compliance.
- Look for new opportunities to improve processes and new sources of business.
- Comply with the norms and procedures of Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, Quality and Policies established by the company.
SKILLS - THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY
Qualifications (Degree, Certification, Additional Training)
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, or related to the field of Environmental, Health, Safety,
Hygiene and Loss Control.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 5 cumulative years of experience in EHS Programs such as: Occupational Health, Process Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Industrial Hygiene, ISO45001, Emergency Plans (e.g. OSHA, EPA, DOT, IATA, NFPA, etc.)
Skills:
- Demonstrated dependability, timeliness, and commitment to achieving company goals.
- Knowledge of local and federal regulatory and understanding of legal health and safety regulations.
- Experience managing emergency response plans and reports.
- Knowledge of Risk Assessment, Security protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience in ISO45001.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, problem solving, root cause analysis and drive informed decision-making.
- Experience in FMCG industry, Spirits industry, Manufacturing or Auditing
- High learning agility, adaptability, and track record of exceptional results
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, decision making and influencing skills; work globally across the organization with key stakeholders including senior management.
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership
- Highly organized, motivated, detail oriented, a sense of urgency, and an ability to prioritize tasks, and project management skills.
- Strong supervision skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office / Teams
- Fluent in English and Spanish, other languages are a plus
