YOUR OPPORTUNITY
About the Role:
We’re seeking a proactive Analytics Manager to join our data team within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment. In this role, you’ll ensure that our sales, marketing, and supply chain data is accurate, accessible, and well‐documented. You will build and maintain Power BI dashboards, write SQL queries for data extraction, and perform routine data validation. Reporting to the Senior Data Manager, you’ll collaborate across departments—Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations—to deliver reliable insights and drive continuous improvement in our analytics processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Dashboard Development & Maintenance:
Build, publish, and maintain interactive Power BI reports and scorecards tracking key FMCG metrics (e.g., sell‐in vs. sell‐out, promotional performance).
Apply DAX measures and model relationships to ensure data accuracy and performance.
Data Extraction & Transformation:
Write and optimize SQL queries (SELECT, JOINs, GROUP BY, window functions) to extract, transform, and load data for ad-hoc analyses.
Collaborate with the IT/BI team to load cleansed data into staging or production environments following established ETL processes.
Data Quality & Validation:
Perform routine data-cleaning tasks: deduplicate records, correct errors, and standardize formats (dates, SKUs).
Use basic Python scripts (pandas) and advanced Excel (PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, macros) to validate incoming data.
Spot-check report outputs against source systems to confirm accuracy and document any discrepancies.
Metadata & Documentation:
Maintain and update data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and SOPs for data entry, validation, and storage.
Document new validation checkpoints, scripting logic, and process changes to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management:
Liaise with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to clarify data requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment on definitions and timelines.
Manage small analytics projects end-to-end: gather requirements, coordinate stakeholders, set milestones, and deliver on schedule.
Serve as the go-to point for junior-level questions regarding data standards, definitions, and workflows.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify manual, repetitive tasks and propose automation solutions (Excel macros, Python scripts).
Gather stakeholder feedback on data challenges and recommend enhancements to existing processes or tools.
Participate in regular training sessions to deepen skills in Power BI, SQL performance tuning, Python scripting, and advanced Excel.
What We’re Looking For:
Hard Skills (Required):
Power BI (Intermediate):
Proven experience building interactive dashboards and paginated reports.
Strong DAX skills and familiarity with data modeling in an FMCG context.
SQL (Intermediate):
Comfortable writing and optimizing queries involving joins, aggregations, and window functions on large transaction tables.
Basic understanding of indexing and performance tuning.
Python (Basic):
Ability to write simple pandas scripts for data cleaning, transformation, and validation.
Familiarity with running Jupyter notebooks or equivalent.
Excel (Expert):
Advanced proficiency with PivotTables, PivotCharts, Power Query, Power Pivot, and dynamic array functions.
Experience with complex formulas (e.g., INDEX-MATCH, nested IFs) and automating tasks with macros/VBA.
Soft Skills (Required):
FMCG Business Acumen:
Solid understanding of sell-in vs. sell-out data, promotional mechanics, distribution metrics, and trade-marketing KPIs.
Ability to interpret volume, velocity, and value metrics in a fast-paced environment.
Communication:
Exceptional written and verbal skills; capable of translating technical findings to non-technical stakeholders (e.g., Brand Managers, Category Heads).
Proactive in scheduling check-ins, summarizing data issues, and presenting progress.
Proactivity & Initiative:
Self-driven attitude: identifies process inefficiencies and implements small-scale improvements without direct instruction.
Comfortable owning deliverables—such as end-to-end dashboard builds or report automation.
Project Management (Small-Scale):
Ability to plan and execute small analytics projects: define scope, coordinate with stakeholders, manage timelines, and flag risks early.
Strong organizational skills; prioritizes tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
Collaboration Across the Organization:
Works seamlessly with Commercial, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure alignment on data definitions and timelines.
Encourages knowledge sharing—e.g., running short “how to interpret the new dashboard” sessions for Sales or Marketing teams.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS S3/Redshift, Azure Data Factory/Synapse, or Google BigQuery).
Basic understanding of descriptive statistics (mean, median, standard deviation) for data validation.
Familiarity with FAIR data principles or other data governance frameworks.
Experience with Git/GitHub for version control of scripts and documentation.
Previous internship or work experience in an FMCG-related analytics role.
