What does a manufacturing project manager do?
To lead and manage all the Manufacturing Capex, innovation support and value Engineering projects and execute best in class Project management solutions that will enable the UK Operations Centre Manufacturing Group to deliver outstanding customer value through the bottling, packaging and warehousing of premium Gin and Whisky products and at competitive costs for our global markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Aspects of the Role:
  • Develop from conception to plan the Manufacturing Capex, innovation support and Value Engineering strategy in partnership with the key Supply Centre stakeholders and aligned to the Manufacturing 3-year plan.
  • Ensure that the Manufacturing 3-year plan strategy is supported by robust engineering designs, specifications, layout, standards and training plans that will deliver operational excellence for the business.
  • Deployment and performance of approved plans through robust Project Management processes/methodologies and in alignment with Bacardi Operating Standards to achieve best in class infrastructure and equipment performance & reliability and Manufacturing Teams technical mastery.
  • Lead the Manufacturing asset replacement Strategy & related Capital Expenditure plans by setting the project specifications and business case in alignment with the regional Engineering Manager.
  • Be the Manufacturing Engineering lead and coordination point for all Innovation initiatives involving Manufacturing: translate the demand from Marketing into technical solutions (including Capex requirement) align the solutions specifications with operational teams and coordinate & follow up when approved the implementation of the solutions till validation.
  • Promote and lead all Manufacturing related Value Engineering initiatives like Manufacturing process improvement, packaging improvement and production in housing initiatives: translate the project idea into technical solutions (including Capex requirement), align the solutions specifications with operational teams and coordinate & follow up when approved the implementation of the solutions till validation.
  • Ensure that project management practices, procedures and systems comply with Bacardi and local legislative SQS Standards and support technical initiatives supporting both Safety First and low environmental impact Operations programs.
  • Support Procurement in the tendering process and selection of the best suppliers for projects execution including project management third parties
  • Deliver Manufacturing operations Engineering support overseeing the successful FAT & commissioning of and MRO aligned to Bacardi standards
  • Organise the appropriate training of the Manufacturing operational and technical teams on all new or modified equipment and validate the effective knowledge acquisition from those teams. 
  • Establish Manufacturing Projects budget estimates including equipment, labor and outsourced services & management fees and deliver as per plan.
  • Track and report projects status and financials results to the OC Manufacturing & Finance teams.
  • Manage the Capex database for all Manufacturing projects and lead projects stakeholders to ensure documentation compliance to Bacardi standards. Ensure full alignment with the regional Engineering Manager.
  • Manage the onsite contractors supporting the projects as per projects specifications and Bacardi standards.
  • Develop and deliver continuous improvement plans that will deliver best practice performance across our processes, equipment and systems.
  • Benchmark internally & externally best in class equipment, Engineering standards & practices, project management delivering additional competitive advantage to the Manufacturing Operations within the industry
  • Leadership, provide outstanding leadership that will foster a values based performance culture through the development of skills and leadership capabilities of project teams members in alignment with out Bacardi People Way.
  • Coach and mentor project teams members, providing developmental support to grow the performance and potential of the individuals.
  • Foster a project team environment where high performance is driving by our values. 
  • Drive sustained improvements in project team engagement and enablement.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in managing Capex, innovation and Value Engineering improvement projects within an international FMCG organization. 
  • Technical Mastery in FMCG Bottling, Packaging and Warehousing equipment & operations best practices.
  • Strong expertise in Project Management methodology, tools and practices.
  • Financial competent capable of developing and managing project budgets, assess cost saving opportunities through Value Engineering and lead capital expenditure plans.
  • Effective collaborator and communicator with experience of working in an international matrix organization.
  • Effective at building partnerships with both Local Management teams and Global support functions to deliver robust technical solutions.
  • Ability to gather and lead a project cross functional team to deliver successful project implementation and expected results.
  • Ability to manage third party providers.
Educational Requirements
  • University Degree (BSc in Engineering or Science related topic).
  • Lean Manufacturing qualification / Project management.
