What does a Project Engineer (Distilling) do?

Member of Bacardi UK Supply Engineering Team, you will provide professional capex project management and engineering technical support to our Malt Distilling & Maturation sites. A key PM role, working with local management team(s) plus other internal & external stakeholders, leading / supporting development & delivery of large capex projects aligned to UK Supply Chain Best 10 & Beyond Big Bets. 

Additionally, providing engineering support in energy reduction initiatives within distilling and technology evaluations for UK Supply’s ambition for Net Zero operational sites by 2030.   

About You

You will be an Engineering Graduate or ideally Chartered Engineering Professional (or working towards) with industry experience, have passion for continuous improvement / innovation and delivery track record.

You will have led major capex projects, have a good understanding of capex project management processes with sound knowledge of health & safety plus environmental legislation applicable to malt distilling.

You have excellent matrix teamworking, organisational & communication skills, plus ability to effectively influence key internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

With our consumer at the heart your key focus will be
  • Support development and delivery of specific major capex projects for Malt Distilling sites within Bacardi UK Supply Chain within Strategic Scotch Whisky Investment Plan.
  • Project manage capex projects from conception to completion engaging effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring delivery to: Specification, Programme and Budget requirements.
  • Ensure projects comply fully with Bacardi UK Supply Capex Project Management Processes including management of change (MOC) procedures. 
  • Ensure projects are delivered to current Legislation and Bacardi UK Supply Engineering Standards working collaboratively with SQS and Distillery teams plus sharing of best practice. (e.g., CDM, DSEAR, Process / Functional Safety, PSSR, PUWER etc.)
  • Manage all project specific contractor activities ensuring compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Provide technical / engineering support on UK Supply’s ambitious drive to Net Zero by 2030. 
  • Help ensure distillery technical records are up to-date as per UK Supply MOC Procedures (deployed consistently).
  • Provide technical advice and coaching support to malt distilling operational teams.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The skills and experience needed to create your legacy
  • University Degree (Engineering or Science based) ideally Chartered, minimum 3-5 years industry experience. 
  • General working knowledge of malt distilling processes and associated process plant.
  • Excellent project management skills in development and delivery of major capital projects.
  • Good understanding of asset care, maintenance excellence and plant reliability optimisation techniques. 
  • Working knowledge of health & safety legislation, including CDM, DSEAR, PUWER and Asbestos Management (ideally hold NEBOSH qualification).
