What does a Quality Assurance Packaging Engineer do?

This role will be focused on driving improvements in raw material supplier quality and increasing the process capability of machine/material interaction.

About You
  • BA/BS in Packaging, Engineering or Science Discipline    
  • 0-5 years Packaging or Quality experience in design, supplier management, and statistical analysis   
  • Experience in both Packaging and Analytical environments is desired

RESPONSIBILITIES

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Liaise with Operations, Packaging Development and Maintenance to solve issues with Packaging Quality 
  • Lead Process Improvement Projects to increase/align material/machine capabilities. 
  • Conduct statistical analysis of key parameters of raw materials when needed for material investigation
  • Site Audits of Raw Material Suppliers
  • Provide leadership, direction and development of the Quality Packaging Team   
  • Complete Corrective and Preventative Actions with BBC and support the same activities with Suppliers
  • Track & Trend packaging material non-conformances through NCR database.
  • Lead and track RCA/CAPA performance and report performance metrics to Senior Management
  • Monitor CIP and identify areas of opportunity for increased consistency and performance
  • Support and attend BBC related Innovation Project calls
  • Own and maintain InfinityQS ENACT database 
  • Provide packaging material performance & quality information for the Quarterly Business Review meetings
  • Timely communication to the broader Supply Chain in the event of Quality situations affecting the business.
  • Provide leadership and support of the VAP packaging operations at the Distribution Center
  • Assist Quality Assurance Manager with projects and special assignments as directed
  • Engage with the broader SQS team to build and execute the site business plan.

  • Protect the Bacardi brands and ensure the highest quality standards for our packaging & image.
  • Operations understanding of manufacturing, packaging, and supply chain
  • Basic knowledge of COGs structure of finish products and Marketing structure 
  • Broad experience in packaging component development, manufacturing, qualification & performance evaluation.
  • Ability to quickly assess Packaging/Packaging materials/Packing systems against specifications 
  • Proven ability to lead and develop an individual and a team
  • Strong ability to work effectively and efficiently across functions, plants and regions
  • Training and experience conducting RCA/CAPA, risk analysis and continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Overall good communication and collaboration skills
