What does a Maintenance Supervisor DO?

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible of maintaining site (manufacturing and facilities) assets by leading, managing, and developing the team to ensure all maintenance activities are carried in schedule increase asset reliability and complying with all safety requirements. The Maintenance Supervisor actively supports projects across the site while promoting and supporting quality and continue improvement on our processes to foster a Maintenance Excellence culture.

The Maintenance Supervisor  is self-motivated, detail oriented that uses  his/her technical expertise of leading and coaching prim@s to ensure the efficiency of the facility reflects the quality of Bacardi rum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

With Our Consumer At The Heart, Your Key Responsibilities Will Be To:
  • Directly supervise maintenance technician and external contractor’s activities (corrective, preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance including troubleshooting) in the site (manufacturing and facilities) equipment adhering to the weekly maintenance plan while ensuring that safety procedures are followed and addresses any dangerous or unsafe conditions.
  • Manage team through effective employee relations: hiring, complete and approves payroll, monitor adherence to Attendance and Code of Conduct policy, conduct performance appraisals, controls overtime budget and optimize productivity (wrench time) providing timely feedback as required.
  • Effectively communicate, encourages and models performance and behavioural expectations for teams/individuals.
  • Ensures adherence to:  Company Global and Local policies and standards; federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Foster a culture of World Class, promoting Maintenance Excellence:
    • Ensure that the Maintenance Team is well informed and working at optimum efficiency.
    • Ensure Maintenance Plans are met to prevent downtime.
    • Respond promptly to emergencies, employing problem solving skills to quickly resolve issues.
    • Maintain communication and build relationship up, down and across departments effectively to ensure maintenance activities support overall company goals.
    • Ensure proper utilization of CMMS - all maintenance activities are recorded in CMMS and kept up to date (Generate Notifications, complete WOs assigned, and capture required data – work hours, BDEs, etc).
    • Ensure IPSTS are done as per standard (all actions are completed).
    • Active participation in BPSTs and propose ideas to reduce unplanned downtime and increase site (manufacturing and facilities) equipment’s reliability.
    • Actively participate in Performance meetings (DDS) and 90 Days action plan development.
    • Design and execute short and long-term Maintenance Strategy to enable operating efficiency. Review OEM recommendations and team experience to develop/implement and/or optimize PMs to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
    • Lead and drives continuous Improvement Initiatives (BOS) to improve efficiencies, reduce waste or learn new skills.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance process and documentation (procedures, job plan, PMs, etc) and develop it.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment; lead and motivate team to achieve performance excellence. Provide Technical / Coach within the team to recognize, troubleshoot, repair, and proactively maintain site (manufacturing and facilities) equipment’s.
    • Keep Updated Maintenance Technician Skills and Knowledge Matrix. 
    • Deploy strategies to ensure maintenance technician are adequately trained and motivated to achieve department objectives in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. Coordinate all necessary technical and regulatory training, ensuring certifications are up to date.
    • Reviewing spare parts list (adding, modifying, eliminating spare parts) to support MRO to maintain an optimum inventory of spare parts by 
    • Maintain a clean work environment by actively leading and promoting 5S and housekeeping.
    • Supervise and control maintenance labour & expense budgets.
  • Negotiate with sub-contractors and outside vendors to attain the most cost-effective solutions for maintenance activities and manage / sustain contracts.
  • Active Participation in all site CAPEX design and execution (installation, commissioning and start up) of new projects to ensures completed timely, accurately and within standards.
  • Support Maintenance planner in the Planning and Scheduling process (Overhauls schedules and plans related costs) to ensure maintenance activities align with production schedules.
  • Support in the Department KPIs analysis to identify opportunities.
  • Develop self-directed teams (maintenance and production) encouraging ownership and teamwork continuously working towards common goals. Organizes and facilitates team meetings.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Maintenance Department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Note: To perform any maintenance activity in electrical assets, prim@ must be qualified by designated personnel as per matrix included in Electrical Safety Policy.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The Skills And Experience Needed To Create Your Legacy:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred) or at least 12 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment with packaging/high speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.) and be able to install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain in most of the following areas.
    • PLC / HMI interpretation and programming (e.g., ladder logic, computer control systems - switches, relays, etc). Allen Bradley / SLC family using RS Logix 500 software / Panel View (Preferred)
    • Electrical and Electronics systems (e.g., AC/DC motors, frequency drive, level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, wiring, etc.)
    • Mechanical systems (e.g., pumps, gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings, valves, etc).
    • Hydraulic and pneumatics systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, solenoids, cylinders, etc)
    • Facilities Maintenance (e.g., boilers, generators, HVAC, electrical installations, etc.)
    • Machine Shop / Fabrication (e.g., CNC, Welding, etc.)
    • Machine / Line Control and Coding Devices (e.g., video jets, laser printers, inspectors, etc)
    • Breakdowns / Failure Analysis (problem solving to identify root cause)
    • Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics. (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays, mechanical drawings for hydraulics and pneumatics).
    • Mechanical, Electrical Tools and Diagnostics Instruments
    • Predictive and Proactive Technology (e.g., laser alignment, vibration, thermography, ultrasound, etc.)
  • Proficient – Intermediate with Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CMMS (SAP PM preferred).
  • Experience leading a team (preferred).
  • Experience Managing Budget (preferred).
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment installation and start-up (preferred).
  • Experience in electrical Safety (NFPA70E), ISO 9000, GMP and HACCP (preferred)
  • Experience in Project Management (preferred)
