What does an Import & Export Customs Manager & FTZ Administrator do?

The Import & Export Customs Manager & FTZ Administrator is responsible for all Import and Export transactions, Trade Compliance and FTZ Administrator for Bacardi USA. This role ensures Bacardi complies with U.S. and international import and export regulatory requirements and FTZ regulations. Works with freight forwarder& ports to ensure timely release & delivery of containers. Partners with Operations Team regarding planning, inbound schedules, and elimination of Detention and Demurrage. The role is responsible for overseeing the in-house processing of 300+ consumption entries per month, 100+ FTZ entries per month and 120+ Exports per month.

About You 

The ideal candidate will have experience with CBP regulations, Foreign Trade Zone, Federal Excise Tax administration, and Craft Beverage Modernization Act (CBMA), working knowledge of the Alcohol Beverage Industry.  The incumbent is to take initiative, think, and act in the spirit of continuous improvement, and escalate concerns appropriately.

RESPONSIBILITIES

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Responsible for all Import & Export transactions for Bacardi USA.  
  • Ensures Bacardi compliance with U.S. and international import and export regulatory requirements, maintaining required records according to regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees in house processing of 520+ entries per month with the support of one import coordinator, one export coordinator and two administers.
  • Is the location’s FTZ Administrator.
  • Working knowledge of Export requirements to the Caribbean, Canada, and Latin America. 
  • Working knowledge of Federal Excise Tax administration and Craft Beverage Modernization Act (CBMA).
  • Administer and develop relationships with customs brokers, including research and response to broker inquiries while ensuring timely clearance of shipments.
  • Partners with Operations Team regarding planning, inbound schedules, and elimination of Detention and Demurrage. 
  • Work with Bacardi’s Freight Forwarder to ensure timely release and delivery of shipments. 
  • Audit and process customs broker invoices, freight forwarder invoices and any custom’s invoices. 
  • Working knowledge of recording keeping for destruction following US Customs and TTB guidelines. 
  • Ensure the timely execution of import requirements and drawbacks as required.
  • Ensure EditTrade and Integration Point is loaded with the appropriate Harmonized Tariff Schedule, ECCN and Country of Origin for all products.
  • Create and maintain documented procedures in support of Bacardi’s import and export processes.
  • Support and train internal customers on importing and exporting requirements.
  • Company representative for Customs and Border Patrol and manages the Customs Officer on-site audits.
  • Provides support for Direct Import Customers.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, SAP, EditTrade and Integration Point. 
  • Ability to create and manage processes and team management. 
  • Working knowledge of various Custom Forms (CF214, CF215, CF216, CF7512, CF3461, CF7501, CF349)

  • 5 years Broker experience or equivalent 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
