RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the administration of occupational safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, sustainability and environmental protection, fire protection, process safety management, incident investigation, emergency response, facility security and training programs. Prepares, submits, and maintains data and information in support of required operating permits as required by Local, State and Federal regulations.
- Develops policies, procedures, programs, and controls designed to eliminate company losses, meet environmental and safety regulatory requirements and reduce company liabilities. Prepares and issues regulatory interpretations for management.
- Coordinate Environmental (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001) management systems and related activities to ensure operational compliance. Participate, as internal auditor, in the Global SQS cross-audit program.
- Responsible for the administration of the Worker's Compensation program for employees injured; represents the Company, when necessary, at hearings and mediations.
- Review construction projects to ensure applicable requirements (OSHA, EPA, ADA, etc.) are met.
- Support Business Continuity Plan at the local and global level. Assists management in development of loss prevention and risk management goals and objectives.
- Ability to travel, work overtime and outside normal schedule as required.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Must exhibit strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail. Ability to coordinate and conduct effective meetings/training for large groups (20 - 30 individuals)
- Ability to lead a team successfully and develop subordinate capabilities as future leaders.
- Must demonstrate dependability and timeliness.
- Must possess strong problem solving & trouble-shooting skills, and demonstrate use of Lean tools and techniques
- Must be detailed oriented and can multi-task. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills with effective training abilities. Must possess strong facilitation, confrontation and negotiating skills
- Self-motivated and possess ability to work independently and as a team member
- Strong commitment to dependability and timeliness. High level of personal responsibility and accountability for results
- Ability to handle stressful, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Ability to think quickly, creatively and challenge team to do the same
