Your Opportunity

To develop the site controls strategy and deliver/improve/trouble-shoot the Electrical and Automation systems in Westthorn on current and new assets so that they comply with appropriate statutory, engineering and safety standards. Provide expert technical advice to other departments in delivering outstanding customer value through the production of premium Gin and Whisky products and services at competitive costs for our global markets. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Ensure that all Electrical, Automation and Manufacturing Execution Systems enhance overall business objectives.
  • Provide Electrical, Automation and MES technical expertise and process know-how through a dedicated training program for the Engineering and Operations teams to achieve technical mastery at the point of operation.
  • Develop ideas to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness of our operations through improving the performance and reliability of our Electrical and Automation systems, and the accuracy of our MES systems.
  • Maintain instrumentation & calibration strategies in relation to automation systems. Develop standards for Electrical P&IDs and coach stakeholders across the site to maintain adequate documentation.
  • Develop Automation standards. Administer change control & archive software programs and settings to ensure successful replacement of all automation systems and data when required.
  • Respond immediately to Electrical and Automation breakdowns in Westthorn and provide technical advice to other departments when required regarding breakdown resolution within the other UK Supply Chain sites.
  • Develop and improve Manufacturing Execution Systems including Artificial Intelligence – Machine Learning. Train & coach Stakeholders to enable a best in class system usage and data collection.
  • Ensure that Electrical and Automation practices, procedures, and systems comply with Bacardi and local legislative QEHS Standards and support technical initiatives for both Safety and low environmental impact programs.
  • Own the Capital Expenditure plans for Electrical & Automation projects through developing project specifications, supporting the configuration, and commissioning of equipment and training the Maintenance & Operations Teams.
  • Manage/Develop SOP’s and diagnostic aids for use on automation systems at Westthorn e.g. PLC structure, SCADA and Safety Instrumentation Systems.
  • Support the automation disaster recovery and contingency planning strategy, including external support for Westthorn and the provision of advice to other departments.
  • Develop an automation strategy for obsolescence detailing short to long term planning.

Work Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical & Automation Engineering within an international industrial organisation.
  • Technical Mastery in Bottling, Bulk processing and FMCG production equipment & best practices.
  • Expert in Electrical standards and systems including compliance to electrical regulatory standards.
  • Expert in modern Automation & PLC Control systems. Ability to develop an Automation infrastructure & network including in-touch systems and to improve system parameters to deliver the performance required by Operations.
  • Ability to problem solve modern production lines, including robotic equipment, servo systems and complex line regulation systems with multiple conveyors and improve overall line effectiveness.
  • Expert in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with ability to drive system & reporting configuration and perform trouble shooting including experience/knowledge of AI (Artificial Intelligence – Machine Learning).
  • Effective collaborator and communicator.
  • Effective at building partnerships within Maintenance Engineering and Operations teams to drive and coach team members in applying best & compliant Electrical & Automation standards.
  • Ability to manage third party providers.
  • Recognized Apprenticeship and appropriate Technical Qualifications.
